Main Types and Differences of Flat Panel Detectors
The amorphous selenium (a-Se) / amorphous silicon (a-Si) flat panel detector is composed of amorphous selenium layer (a-Se) / amorphous silicon layer (a-Si) and thin film semiconductor array (TFT). The amorphous silicon flat plate detector is divided into amorphous silicon + cesium iodide plate and amorphous silicon + gadolinium oxide flat plate.
The a-Se Flat panel detector ,use a so-called direct detection technology, in which x-photons become electrical signals in the selenium coating layer and are directly converted into digital signals. At present, only American company owns the core of this technology in the world. And other manufacturers in China use this kind of detector.
The a-Si Flat panel detector，use a two-step digital conversion technology, in which x-photons are first converted into visible light and then detected by phototubes and converted into digital signals. Mainstream manufacturers include Philips, Siemens, Ge, etc. Because of the different coating technology, it can be divided into amorphous silicon + cesium iodide plate and amorphous silicon + gadolinium oxide plate.
