Why is CR replaced by DR

Why is CR replaced by DR?
In radiographic non-destructive testing, digital radiography (DR) has been increasingly used. So why is CR replaced by DR? In fact, both CR and DR are digital, but CR can’t print images directly from a computer, and DR can print images directly on a computer.

According to the reading method, the reading mode refers to the process of displaying from X-ray exposure to images, and can be divided into a direct reading (Direct Readout) method and a non-direct reading (Nondirect Readout) method. The direct reading mode is automatically completed from the X-ray exposure to the image display, and after X-ray exposure, the image can be observed on the display. This technique is called DDR, where the meaning of D is Direct Readout. Indirect readout requires first X-ray exposure using an imaging plate (Imaging Plate, IP plate for short), then inserting the IP board into a reader (Reader) for scanning and then displaying it on the display. This technique is called CR (Computed). Radiography).
